INSPIRATION: MOVIES

I know. You're already judging me, but Crossroads is the first road trip movie I can remember seeing. Horrible acting and cheesiness aside, I kind of unrealistically hope that this is what a road trip will be like (except I won't be getting a record deal in LA any time soon, lets be real here).

INSPIRATION: MUSIC

PLACES: CARMEL BY THE SEA

I want to clarify that there is no specific order to the places I will post about, I'll just be posting them when I'm feeling particulary inspired by said location. With that being said, Carmel by the Sea is my first 'Places' post but there is no rhyme or reason for it being so.

I recently stumbled across Carmel by the Sea on pinterest and was intreagued because
the houses, and cobblestone streets looked like something out of a fairytale, I was completely charmed. Carmel is a small  but seaside town in California with all the offerings of a big city. There's arts, entertainment, fine dining, shopping, and more.

However, the beautiful white sand beach and gorgeous surf alone was reason enough to catch my interest.

AN INTRODUCTION

I figure my first post should be about who I am and what this blog is about, why I'm writing about what I'm writing about, etc.

I'm not the greatest at writing, so I hope you'll bear with me;
My name is Jessica, currently I am studying in my second year of advertising at Sheridan College. This blog is part of an interactive marketing class, where we learn about advertising in social media, analytics, and such. Outside of school however, I am fascinated with travel. I have been fortunate enough to travel to a few (very few) places; my favourite of which being New York City. However, this blog will be about the many places I want (and hope) to go.

A lot of my inspiration for this blog will come from a book I received this year for Christmas; The New YorkTimes 36 Hours, 150 Weekends in the USA & Canada.

The book is a collection of "36 Hours" columns updated by Barbara Ireland that were originally published in The New York Times. This particular book highlights 150 cities in The USA and Canada, recommending hotels, restaurants, and sights / attractions that are not run of the mill tourist attractions.

I love the idea of long road trips / just getting in a car and taking off, so this blog will be focused on places located in the US and Canada, Ideally accessible by car. I also plan on posting things that fuel my wanderlust like music, books, quotes and movies.

So, thank you for taking the time to view my blog and I hope you enjoy (or at least don't hate) the posts to come.
